As an Early Learning Corps Interventionist you’ll spend your days helping children ages 3-5 to talk, read, write, sing and play in order to develop early literacy and numeracy skills and get ready for Kindergarten. Serving in one classroom, you’ll work closely with a teacher to enhance daily literacy and numeracy activities and help students build both skills and confidence. With great training and onsite coaching, you’ll be ready to make an impact through enhanced opportunities to develop their early language, literacy and math skills. No experience? No problem. With great training and onsite coaching, you’ll be ready to make an impact.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

7.5 service hours per day.

Requires 5 days per week.

Position starts 8/25/2025 and ends 5/30/2026

Compensation/Benefits:

Stipend of $1,356.60 every other week before taxes (totaling $2,713.20 per month before taxes), Education award of up to $5,176.50 that can be used to repay federal student loans or future education expenses

Federal student loan forbearance

Health insurance and childcare assistance

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential

Community groups and professional learning groups

Interventionists who successfully complete their service term will earn up to a $300 bonus.

Minimum qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older by your start date.

Must have at least a high school diploma or recognized equivalent by your start date.

Must be either a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.

Must pass mandatory pre-service background checks.

Must not have served 4 or more prior terms of service with AmeriCorps State or National.

Member Assistance Program which provides confidential access to a variety of mental health resources.

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential

Interventionists who successfully complete their service term will earn up to a $300 bonus.

Michigan Education Corps Early Learning Corps Interventionists serve Pre-K students who need help in early learning. In return, Interventionists earn a stipend every 2 weeks, receive up to an additional $5,176.50 for college tuition or federal student loans, and gain professional experience in a school environment. MEC also offers free health insurance and free childcare assistance for those who qualify. Interventionists can also complete part of the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential requirements. Michigan Education Corps is proud to offer members Community and workforce development groups to foster community and career building.
