prek Reading corps AT A GLANCE / FOR SCHOOLS

Michigan Education Corps Reading Corps’ goal is to help every Michigan child become reading proficient by the end of third grade. We make this possible with a dedicated staff and team of interventionists, also known as members, who serve through AmeriCorps. Members provide proven research-based language and literacy interventions to help struggling students reach their potential.

About the program

It takes a team to make Michigan Education Corps PreK Reading Corps a success. We work with you to provide services to students and need your support along the way. Focusing on rhyming, alliteration, letter sounds, letter names and picture naming (vocabulary), PreK Reading Corps Interventionists are embedded into preschool classrooms to assist teachers in implementing a language, literacy and math rich learning environment. Additionally, interventionists are trained in scripted reading interventions to provide to students in need of supplemental literacy practice.

training

The Michigan Education Corps team provides training to Reading Corps Interventionists and Internal Coaches to ensure successful implementation of the Reading Corps model.

“The training is fantastic and I have decided to stay and not attempt to commute. It is wonderful to have time to spend with my new “team” and we are learning all together. Thank you also for all you do to make this program successful, I love to see things that get directly to students and have an impact.” –Internal Coach, 2018-19
